Since New Zealand went into level 4 lockdown, August 2021. Our foodbank team have been working tirelessly packing hundreds of kai parcels to deliver to whānau in need across Manurewa. Our foodbank makes between 100-120 kai parcels a day. By the end of September we had already sent out over 4,000 kai parcels out to the Manurewa community, feeding over 20,000 people, including 7,000 children.
Majority of those to receive our kai parcels have been Māori, with 53% of those in September being Māori, whilst Pacific Islander (28%) and NZ European (8%) the next popular ethnic groups.
